Playtonic Games yesterday announced that their Kickstarter funded title Yooka-Laylee has been delayed into 2017. While the game quickly reached its target on the crowd-funding site, Team 17 stepped in as the publisher to get the game into gamers’ hands.
Playtonic Games, a studio made up of ex-Rare developers responsible for the likes of Banjo-Kazooie posted a news update on the game’s website saying “While we felt confident we could ship the game in October as originally projected in our Kickstarter, the Playtonic team has decided that it would prefer to add a few extra months’ polish to the game schedule.
Ultimately, this will allow us to deliver a better game to the tens-of-thousands of you who’ve supported us throughout development. And that’s what we all want, right?”
The trailer does indeed look dazzling, and we haven’t seen anything from Yooka-Laylee since last year. Look how far it has come! I have high hopes for this game and i hope it’s a massive success for Playtonic Games and everyone else involved with the project. A good old fashioned 3D platformer is what the world needs right now!
If you want to see more of Yooka-Laylee, there are a bunch of new screenshots on the game’s website, right here.
Yooka-Laylee now as a first quarter of 2017 release date, and will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U and Steam.
