Xbox One’s Scalebound officially canceled

ScaleboundOne of the Xbox One’s most interesting titles due for release this year, has unfortunately been canceled. Scalebound, in development since 2013 by Platinum Games seemingly suffered a bit of development hell, and ultimately, wasn’t able to keep up to Microsoft’s standards. The game is now being laid to rest.

Not only that, but Microsoft have been quick to scrub Scalebound from the internet, with videos, content and even the official website getting practically shut down. Over on the official Scalebound website, a statement was posted saying:

“Today, I have a difficult announcement to share that affects our fans, Microsoft Studios team and a valued partner. After careful deliberation, we have come to the decision to end production for Scalebound. This decision was not made lightly.

At Microsoft, we remain committed to making Xbox and Windows 10 the best places to play games, and look forward to bringing “Halo Wars 2”, “Crackdown 3”, “State of Decay 2”, “Sea of Thieves” and other great experiences to our fans.”

Scalebound was to be an action-RPG which saw the player fighting alongside a dragon. More over, other players could join in with their dragons and help you out in battle.

With its cancelation, it’s one less Xbox/Windows 10 exclusive for Microsoft, and as they put it, players have a handful of other listed, confirmed titles to look forward to from the first party front. It’s a sad day indeed to see such a game canceled. Will someone else pick it up? Nintendo? Sony? We shall wait and see.
