“Later today Xbox One owners will be getting a system update. This update prepares for game streaming to Windows 10 (launching July 29th) and our upcoming Backward Compatibility feature launching in a few months. There are no new user-facing features in this release as the team focuses on the New Xbox One Experience that will be available later this year.”
Microsoft have a lot on their plate ahead of them for the rest of the year, with the Windows 10 integration across pc and Xbox, with some games already confirmed as having cross-platform play, like Fable Legends, and games that are cross-platform between 360 and Xbox One, with World of Tanks, coming at the end of July.
Backwards compatibility is already with Preview members, and while the list of available games is small for now, hundreds should be ready for release when the feature launches for all in the dark months.
There are still a few features we would like to see added in the future, and with the new UI coming at the end of the year too, featuring voice recognition and functionality with Cortana, it’s exciting to think about what’s coming next.
