While not officially revealed just yet, it’s a known fact that a Watch_Dogs 2 is in development. This week, Ubisoft spoke out regarding a few details on it, and how it will differ from the first game. Watch_Dogs set in motion a distrust between developers and gamers, when the actual game didn’t live up to the visual appeal of the trailers. Since then, gamers have become more buyer beware.
Watch_Dogs 2 is set to have a “new tone,” however this wasn’t elaborated on so we can’t say much on that. Maybe it’s less about being a vigilante, with a new protagonist who isn’t on the hunt to avenge his deceased niece.
Considering how mixed the responses were to the original Watch_Dogs released in 2014, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has said that the game has the potential to be one of Ubisoft’s best-selling games of all time. Interesting belief there. Maybe it’s just me, but I know a few people who would argue otherwise, based on the first game. Maybe Ubisoft are super confident in this one, but winning back disappointed fans may be an uphill battle.
An image appeared online recently of a new character who may be the new main character of Watch_Dogs 2. It is unconfirmed, but the image’s caption reads “”had a blast doing motion capture work as the lead character in a new video game series.” The accompanying hashtags name Watch Dogs 2 specifically.”
I’m expecting that we’ll see the first sighting of Watch_Dogs 2 at E3 this year during the Ubisoft media briefing, so stay tuned for that in June. Out of curiosity, how many of you would be interested in a new, refreshing Watch_Dogs title?
