United Kingdom retailer GAME cancelling some Metal Gear Solid V pre-orders

Metal Gear Solid VOne of the UK’s biggest video game retailers, GAME, is in the process of cancelling a number of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain following a series of issues relating to their computer systems. Game has recently issued two statements in relation to the matter, both of which clarified the reasons behind the cancellations. The news first came to light when GAME sent out a series of emails to customers who were affected which were subsequently forwarded to GameSpot when a couple of fans affected, disputed GAME’s reasoning behind the cancellations. At the time, GAME stated that there had been problems with either payment or the delivery address of the customer, resulting in over 370 people losing their pre-order, however GAME then issued a statement Metal Gear Solid Vclarifying that the customers had been in-correctly charged:

A spokesperson for the retailer had this to say: “Regrettably due to a technical issue with our computer systems, 370 customers who pre-ordered the Metal Gear Solid V standard edition have had their orders incorrectly charged. Our customer service and store teams are currently working to contact all those impacted and refund any over payment. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Furthermore, following requests for clarification, GAME issued the following second statement: “Regrettably due to a technical issue with our computer systems, 371 customers who pre-ordered the Metal Gear Solid V Hardware Edition have had their orders incorrectly charged. Our customer service and store teams have been working to contact all those impacted and refund any over payment. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Metal Gear Solid VHowever it has also come to light, in a weird coincidence, that a small number of people have legitimately been affected by payment issues and have had their pre-orders cancelled. Though chances are if you’ve been affected then you’ve already been contacted, as GAME confirmed in their statements, that all customers that have had issues with their payment provider have already been contacted.

At this stage we’d just like to point out that the standard edition of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is still available for pre-order through game, though the “Hardware Edition” is currently sold out.
