Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is one of the most powerful weapons in PlayStation’s armoury this year, with its release just weeks away. Unfortunately, it looks like some retails have already began handing them over the counter, meaning some fool might begin leaking details before it even officially launches.
German publication PCGames.de pointed out that Amazon Germany is already dispatching the game to those who have pre-ordered it. Surely that delivery will come in a few days time, before the weekend is out. Maybe they didn’t get the memo about launch dates changing? Maybe they read the date as 01 instead of 10?
ThisGenGaming.com are reporting that Amazon US is currently doing the exact same thing. Below, you can see a screenshot of someone’s Amazon order, giving an expected delivery date of ‘tomorrow by 8pm’
Worse still, it seems that even UK retailers are guilty of the same crime, with reports that retailer CEX is also selling copies to customers ahead of launch. Videogamer.com have the scoop on that one. One customer uploaded a picture of the store’s receipt as proof of purchase, as well as a snapshot of him holding the game.
“I went in to CEX… to actually buy myself a camera lens,” the customer named Shabz told Videogamer, “and when I went to the counter to purchase the lens I saw behind the shop assistant that there was Uncharted 4 so as a try I said can I also get a copy of Uncharted 4, he just picked it up and rang it through the till. The game cost £55.”
Just what the hell is going on? We shall await Sony’s response on the matter, if there is any, and surely Naughty Dog, the game’s developer won’t be too pleased either. The repercussions of this are immense. What’s to stop someone posting up cutscenes on Youtube or on Reddit, revealing plot points and twists, and anything else the story has to offer? It’s the internet, something like that is likely to happen.
