One of my favourite aspects of Mondays, is the game chart to see how new releases and old favourites did on the shelves. With the release of Call of Duty Infinite Warfare last week, as well as all of the other massive releases of late, let’s see how they all stacked up at retail.
Infinite Warfare managed to debut at the top of the chart, which isn’t too hard to be surprised about. However, and this is rather surprising to read; the game sold nearly 50% less copies in its first week than Black Ops 3 last year on its release. Sure, there’s no 360 or PS3 version this time around, but according to GfK, sales of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions alone are 43% down on last year’s annual release.
Battlefield 1 settles for 2nd place in the chart this week, although that could easily change again next week. FIFA 17 holds onto 3rd place again this week, while Skyrim Special Edition drops from 2nd to 4th. Titanfall 2 is still going strong, although a drop from 4th to 5th will have to do it for this year’s underdog this week.
Skylanders Imaginaors jumps up from 19th place into 7th, maybe Christmas shoppers getting it in early to avoid disappointment during the shopping rush, and Mafia 3 drops from 6th to 8th. GTA V continues to rear its head, and reserves a spot at 9th, after all these years still in the top 10! Forza Horizon 3 sits in 10th place, while Gears of War 4 takes cover behind 11th.
