UK Game Sales Chart, August 13th

No Man's Sky chartWith the release of No Man’s Sky, it’s no surprise to see it top the UK games chart at retail this week. Last week, GTA V managed to take the top spot in a period that had little to no new releases, but one of 2016’s most hyped titles hit the store, and it shows.

According to Gfk who post the weekly figures, No Man’s Sky became “Sony’s 2nd biggest ever PS4 launch (behind Uncharted 4) and Sony’s biggest launch for a new IP on PS4. In terms of new IP across all publishers and Sony formats it sits 5th behind Destiny (PS4), Watch Dogs (PS4), The Getaway (PS2) and The Last of Us (PS3).”

GTA V slips down into 2nd, which is by no means a bad thing, and Overwatch moves from 4th place into 3rd in the chart. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens continues to drop, which held 1st place for 5 weeks, now comfortable in 4th place.

Uncharted 4 falls from 2nd to 5th, while Rocket League holds onto 6th place for its second week. FIFA 16 resides in 7th, while DOOM holds out in 8th with a shotgun. No other surprise entries in the chart, but as we get closer to September, things will remain quiet before the heavy hitters hit the shelves.
