Titanfall 2 story will be an American Revolution and American Civil War in space

titanfall map packAccording to an interview on Forbes, “Lead writer Jesse Stern promises Titanfall 2 will portray a world in which science meets magic, but a world which will still be “grounded, dirty, human and real.” Titanfall was a successful release on Xbox One and PC, although only featured online multiplayer modes, with the campaign played by two teams of players. It was fun, but rather short.

Development into Titanfall 2 began in April 2014, after Respawn spent 6 months adding new content to the base game, all of which is free now, making it a remarkable title, even today. I played it again only last week with some friends, and the action is still frantic, exciting and tonnes of fun. I can’t wait for more of it!

“The multi-player game will be even better than it was the first time around. The first game was an Xbox exclusive (initially). This one is going to be widely available, I believe on all platforms. One of the shortcomings of the first game was we just did not have the mechanism to tell everyone ‘here’s who you are, here’s where you are and who’s around you.’ We knew all the answers, we just could not deliver it.

So we are doing our best to deliver a vision of grand global colonial warfare retelling the story of the American Revolution and the American Civil War in space. We imagined the next generation of immigrants moving out to the new frontier of an inhabitable planet. Rather than taking a traditional sci-fi approach to that we wanted to look at how that would happen practically, what the ships would look like and with machines that were designed for excavation and construction , demolition and working the land, and what happens when they are turned into instruments of war.”

This on top of an already fun multiplayer mode which promises to be even better, and on all platforms, will be fantastic. The TV series which was teased roughly two years ago should also be coming along, after a teaser left us wanting more, looking like it stayed true to the game’s theme. The trailer below isn’t it, but just imagine a show looking like this….
