Possibly one of the biggest announcements of the Xbox E3 2015 conference was the announcement of PC style mods making their debut on console, courtesy of Fallout 4 on the Xbox One. It was a great idea, one that has been welcomed by the general Xbox community, not only is it a console first, it’s also a great insight as to what could be in store for these type of games in the future. We just need to get Rockstar on board now.
In a recent interview with German Publication Spiegel Online, Bethesda’s Todd Howard was questioned in regards to ‘paid mods’ and whether they would also be making an appearance in the console version of the game. Howard’s reply, which was translated via the popular google translation application was as follows:
Frankly this is a less than definitive answer and it could well mean that Fallout 4 on the Xbox One will be limited to particular mods that are, in essence, free. Which is a given really when you consider the game itself will already be pushing the consoles capabilities, mods on top of that will only put additional strain on the hardware. Some more generous fans have already made their opinions clear in regards to paid mods, saying that those who put the effort into making the game a more personal experience for individual gamers deserve to be compensated in some way shape or form. So with that in mind, we’d like to now ask you, the 4-One Gaming community. If such a system were to be revealed would the idea of paying for certain mods still be a welcomed prospect? Or do you believe that mods should be free to those who’ve already paid for the game? As always, let us know in the comment section below!
