The Players, a journey of an eSports team to be shown at Dub Web Fest

dub web fest 2016This weekend, 4-One Gaming will be attending Dublin Web Fest in Filmbase Templebar, Dublin. Dub Web Fest is Ireland’s first web series and digital content festival which kicks off from this Friday, November 18th to Sunday the 20th. This will be its second year of celebrations.

As part of it, we have been invited to one of the series being screened called ‘The Players’, which is about a group of friends and their journey to reach the eSports finals of the European League of Legends, a popular videogame that has become the cult phenomenon of their generation.

“The Players is the first scripted series to focus on the world of electronic sports, an industry, which according to Superdata Research, will exceed one billion dollars in 2019.” It is directed by EMMY nominated writer Nuno Bernardo (Sofia’s Diary, Flatmates, Beat Girl, Collider) and produced by beActive.

eSports continues to grow annually, and a fictional story about a group of gamers trying to overcome challenges to achieve success should be an insightful, and touching watch. I’ll be reporting on the showing during the weekend, so stay tuned to the website and our Facebook/Twitter pages.
