Game Informer have gotten the exclusive scoop on Gears of War 4, and have today revealed the new leading cast. Set 25 years later, and after what we saw at E3 last year, don’t expect to be running around as Marcus or Cole Train this time.
Gears of War 4 will feature three main characters which have been revealed by Game Informer. If this is the three main characters, then expect a Destiny-like co-op experience, unlike Gears 3 or Judgment which allowed for four players. The three character reveals tell us a little about the game’s setting, and who these people are.
First up is J.D Fenix, who is played by Liam McIntyre. You may or may not recognise him from Spartacus or The Flash, when he played the Weather Wizard. J.D is the son of Marcus, if the name wasn’t enough of a giveaway.
Next up, we have Kait Diaz, who wasn’t a COG, nor were her family. Part of a faction called the Outsiders, she is more of a survivalist character, almost like the stranded, but not so much. She is played by Laura Bailey, who recently did the part of Spartan Olympia Vale in Halo 5.
Lastly, we have the Gears of War 4 version of Cole, I imagine. Delmont “Del” Walker used to be a COG soldier, but with the game set 25 years after Gears of War 3, I wonder how old he is now. He and J.D both seem young enough, so was he a pre-teen soldier? I’m not sure yet. He’s J.D’s best friend, and goes wherever he goes. He is voiced by Eugene Byrd, who has appeared in tv shows such as Bones, Arrow and in Battlefield Hardline as one of the story’s characters.
Game Informer know a little more about Gears of War 4 which you can read about in their latest issue. I’m sure some of it will end up online in the coming days and we’ll try and suss out the saucy bits regarding this year’s Xbox One third person shooter.
