Well it doesn’t seem like theres any exception for the rules when it comes to celebrities in the gaming world either, as Pewdiepie will tell you. YouTube’s golden boy has recently came out in a video and told the world that he’s tired of having to deal with overeager fans attending his home address, despite having moved several times over the years he’s been famous.

Youtube’s biggest star received a nice little gift from Sony last week in the form of a PlayStation birthday cake. Felix Kjellberg, best known the world over as ‘Pewdiepie’ celebreated his 26th birthday on October 24th, and what was in the cake was a surprise to him.
YouTube have announced a new, subscription based version of their service due to launch at the end of this month bringing with it a host of new features to avid YouTube users including exclusive content, ad-free videos, offline viewing and use of the newly announced YouTube Music streaming service which will finally make YouTube one of the go-to platforms for those of you who enjoy streaming music. The reasons both were there were for two separate reasons, Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg (aka. PewDiePie) was there to discuss his Youtube Stardom, openly admitting that he does not watch TV like many others today. Hello Games founder Sean Murray on the other hand was there to promote their game No Man Sky, and showed some of it off.
Following the news this week of how much money Pewdiepie has made in 2014, and how he’s worth a lot of money and has a fan base of 38 million, the internet reacted rather negatively to it, saying rather unfriendly things about 25 year old Felix Kjellberg.
PewDiePie is like Marmite. You either love him, or you hate him. Fair enough, he does a lot of Let’s Play videos of our favourite games, but appeals to the younger generation more than the chiseled, veteran gamers like ourselves, and while most people above the age of 20 probably dislike the guy, you can’t say he’s bad at what he does.
Time have recently compiled a list of who they consider to be the “30 most influential people on the internet”. The list includes some very well known political and celebrity figures such as Barack Obama, Beyonce and Ta-Nehisi Coates but right alongside them are some recognisable faces from gaming. Youtube sensation PewDiePie, Feminist Frequency’s Anita Sarkeesian and star of hit mobile game Kim Kardashian’s Hollywood, Kim Kardashian, all feature on the list. (Ok we promise we’ll stop with the Kim Kardashian jokes but sadly she does feature on the list)
