Diablo released back in 1996 on the PC and surprisingly had a decent PS1 port 2 years later. It was a game teeming with atmosphere and immersion. Since 1996, Battle.net has been one of those services that gamers on PC will be familiar with. First launching alongside the original Diablo game, Battle.net served as the launch platform for all of Blizzard’s hit titles over the years. Now, Blizzard are changing its name. Blizzard, the company behind such games as World of Warcraft, the Diablo series and Heroes of the Storm have officially announced that new characters and maps will be released in the form of free DLC for their eagerly anticipated, up-coming shooter, Overwatch.
But a player by the name of Vajet has surpassed the abilities of man, and entered the realm of the gods, with a current combined level that has seen him go beyond Paragon level 2000, already at 2003.
Blizzard’s take on the MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) genre, Heroes of the Storm, officially launched yesterday after what seemed like 1000 years of alpha/beta testing. The game has already been around for over a year now courtesy of Blizzard’s passion for community feedback so for the vast majority the launch was somewhat of an anti-climax after all the build up.
Heroes of the Storm has been around in beta form for some time now, problem is, the beta was closed. So only a select few amount of people from Blizzard’s “VIP list” were able to experience it. Well finally that game has opened up to the public in the form of an “open beta” meaning you don’t actually have to have had an invite in order to experience it. You just download the client, open the game, create your battle.net account and you’re all set to experience Blizzards take on the MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) genre. Diablo was released in 1996 for PC and later in 1998 for PlayStation. It’s a hack and slash action role playing game with some elements of rogue like games such as procedurally generated, multilevel dungeons and permadeath. With the start of Diablo 3 season 3 I thought it apt to choose Diablo for the retro corner today.
According to the Moscow Times, World of Warcraft developer Blizzard will be blocking players in the Crimea from their servers. The move is the result of sanctions placed on the Russian Federation by the United States following Russia’s annexation of the region.
