Yesterday, Microsoft acquired Havok, the leading provider of 3D physics, from Intel. Havok is an Irish born company, set up in Dublin in 1998, and you may have seen their logo pop up in many, many of your games when you boot them up.
Microsoft Game Studios and Re-Agent revealed the first taste of gameplay for Crackdown 3, the follow up to the Xbox 360 franchise which let players take on the role of a super cop, Matrix style, to take down crime bosses and their crew. The game allowed for four friends to team up together, and Crackdown 3 is doing the same.
Myself and Kat have already shared our predictions for the Bethesda and Nintendo conferences at E3, and Microsoft is next on our list, with it taking place on Monday June 15th bright and early at 9:30AM PT.
Xbox are looking to have a big E3 planned, already teasing us with a possible announcement from Rare as well as saying there will be a much larger focus on first party titles at the event compared to previous years. They also have an awesome lineup of games coming later in the year with Quantum Break set to release in early 2016. Of course, they can only have more in store for us and I am expecting quite a few announcements from the company this year.
Phil Spencer wrote on Twitter that this years E3 should feel “different” to those in the past, with more of a focus on first-party games than at previous conferences. Spencer also revealed in discussions with fans that they “should have new exclusive IP” at the show, and going by grammar that means multiple IP’s.
