Danny Boyle is bringing Trainspotting back, 20 years after the British hit stole our hearts and traded them in for heroine. Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle and the rest of the cast team up again with Danny Boyle for another drug-fueled adventure, and now we have its first trailer.
Catch up with the returning characters of Renton, Spud, Sick Boy, Begbie and Diane in January of next year, as Ewan McGregor tries to rekindle his old friendships and old flame from the first movie.
The trailer already features a few scenes that may look rather familiar, with Trainspotting 2 abusing the most memorable scenes from the first movie, just 20 years later. It looks manic, it looks depressing, but most of all, it looks fun and will surely feel like catching up with old friends after all these years.
“You’re an addict. So be addictive. Just be addicted to something else,” as Renton puts it!
“I tell you, this film is going to be quite emotional for people. Because the film sort of tells you to think about yourself. You are going to be thinking: ‘Fuck. What have I done with my life?’” Robert Carlyle told NME last year.
Trainspotting 2 hits cinemas in the UK, and most likely Ireland on January 27th, 2017.
