Super Mario Maker is making it’s way to 3DS getting a December 2nd release date. There ‘s a slight catch though. Nintendo revealed that the 3DS version won’t have all of the online features, which allows you to search and download levels made by friends and other creators from around the world.
Whilst its disappointing that the 3DS version of Super Mario Maker will lack the search and downloading features, it will at least allow you to build collaborative levels with your friends by sharing them locally before completing the level.
In more disappointing new players won’t be able to upload their creations and share them with the world but will be able to share them locally with friends. Players will at least be able to connect to the internet to download and play select Super Mario Maker courses that will change from time to time, from the WiiU version and the game will also come with 100 Nintendo-designed courses with new challenges.
Super Mario Maker released on the WiiU just over a year ago and has been well received by the community. Players have created some fantastic levels and its always interesting to see the thought process of someone trying to work their way through a challenging level.
“Get ready to play a near-infinite number of side-scrolling 2D Mario courses anytime, anywhere!”
It seems a bit of an odd decision to leave out a couple of the defining features of Super Mario Maker but it looks like there will be more than enough to occupy players even with those missing features. I for one am definitely putting this on my list for Santa this year.
