Street Fighter V gets a brand new character…

street fighter v… Along with a new in-game economy structure. Necalli is the latest addition to the Street Fighter V roster, he’s a brand new character newly revealed by Capcom alongside their new ‘service-based’ economy that will allow dedicated players to earn content (such as new characters) completely free of charge, a series first for the Street Fighter franchise.

So, lets start with that new character: “Players who enjoy a straight forward, hard-hitting character will feel right at home with Necalli as he possesses a wide variety of savage, close range attacks, as well as a command grab, all with the goal of demolishing his foes.” Capcom said during the reveal. Check out the gameplay trailer below for a first look at Necalli in action:

New characters are a given necessity when introducing a new fighting game to a platform, but whats more interesting is the change of direction Capcom are taking when it comes to Street Fighter V’s economy, we’ve all seen that in the past Capcom have re-launched new versions of previous games with added content. But with Street Fighter V they’re promising that the initial release is the only disc that fans will ever need to own. This is because all balance and system adjustments will be available for free and any post-game content launched can be earned through in-game currency.

Capcom Community Chief, Peter ‘ComboFiend’ Rosas: “That’s right, Street Fighter V will be the first iteration in the franchise where it is possible for dedicated players to earn all gameplay related content for FREE, simply by playing the game. Long gone are the days of forced Super and Ultra upgrades! Enjoy free balance updates as soon as they become available, and find and choose the post-launch characters that you want to get.”

Street Fighter V will launch with 16 playable characters, 4 of these will be brand new to the Street Fighter Series, new characters will also be added to the game post launch on a continuous basis. The first online beta for Street Fighter V starts 2am on July 24 in the UK.
