Yes, I just went there with that headline, and I have no regrets. It’s Friday, shush. Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley, who played Rey is one of the potential actors who could be filling Lara Croft’s boots in the rebooted Tomb Raider movie.
Nothing has been confirmed or made official, but if the 23 year old British actor can go from Star Wars to Tomb Raider, then she can count her lucky stars. There hasn’t been a Tomb Raider movie since the Angelina Jolie duo of movies and while they didn’t set a high benchmark, the game series has since been reset by Square Enix and it’s time for another movie feature, to get more of that money.
Fans may argue that the current Lara Croft actress Camilla Luddington would be a better match for the role, as she has handled Lara’s personality, movements and adventures in the past two game release. However, being in her thirties now might impact on what the reboot of the movie is aiming for, so it’s a debatable situation. I would honestly give Camilla my vote (not just because she’s gorgeous) but if the role is offered to Daisy, who am I to argue?
The movie is currently in pre-production, with a 2017 release date attached. The movie will be directed by Roar Uthaug with the script being provided by Evan Daugherty.
