Star Wars Battlefront Will Have Dedicated Servers

star wars battlefrontAs expected from all modern FPS games, Star Wars Battlefront will indeed feature dedicated servers rather peer-to-peer matchmaking.

Following the announcement that the game won’t be offering a server browser, many gamers were disappointed, especially on PC. Because of that some were worried that they would also be doing away with the dedicated servers, which would mean that players would have to host games themselves. However, in an interview with PlayStation Lifestyle at TGS, Lead Heroes Designer Jamie Keen confirmed that nothing would change on that front, thankfully.

“We’ll still have dedicated servers,” said Jamie Keen. “Absolutely. It’s one of the hallmarks of making sure we deliver an unparalleled online [service] for the game.”

While the game may have dedicated servers, doing away with the server browser displeased a lot of fans for a large number of understandable reasons. Some of the biggest complaints being no community run servers and not being able to choose what servers you want to play on, whether it is due to map rotation, the communities that use them, or simply your ping to that server.

Regardless, we can all agree that having dedicated servers is a good thing, because taking them away would be a serious step in the wrong direction for a multiplayer only game.

What are your thoughts though? Are dedicated servers enough for you, or is having a server browser essential to having a good, consistent experience? Let us know in the comments.
