EA and DICE have revealed today that a Star Wars Battlefront beta will be coming in October, before the game’s release on November 17th. The beta will be similar to what has been shown already, and include a new mode called ‘Drop Zone’, which will be detailed soon.
“Coming early October to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on Origin for PC, the Star Wars Battlefront Beta* is a technical test and will feature Walker Assault on Hoth, a 40-player multiplayer battle featuring Rebels and the Empire.”
The Beta will also feature the Survival Mission on Tatooine, where you and a Rebel friend must fight back waves of Imperial forces.
As well as the beta, a Star Wars Battlefront ‘companion experience’ will also be available to download, available at www.StarWarsBattlefront.com. The Companion experience features the strategic card game Base Command, and lets you earn in-game Credits that unlock Star Cards, weapons, and more in Star Wars Battlefront.
In addition to Base Command, the Companion also lets Rebels and Imperials alike check game stats and progression, customize load-outs and appearance, connect with friends, and get notified when they’re playing Star Wars Battlefront – as well as gather intel on their stats and progression so you can see how you match up!
You will be able to download the Companion experience on the App Store and Google Play Store prior to the game’s release in November. As for how to sign up for the beta, there are no concrete details, but we’d like to imagine that this will be open for all. For now though, just take this as good news, and that it will at least give you the option to try before you buy, if you don’t have an EA Access subscription on Xbox One.
