When it comes to anticipating the official announcement of a video game, tensions can soon rise among those looking forward to getting their hands on future games. Fortunately, for those who can’t wait, there’s always Amazon, who have been responsible for more leaked information than all other sources collectively. The latest blunder is in relation to the up-coming sequel to the Star Wars: Battlefront reboot, which disappointed its fans last year, when it launched in November.
While there hasn’t been much in terms of official information for the sequel, EA have already stated that their intention is to release a new Star Wars game every year for the next three to four years, well and truly capitalizing on the franchises ability to generate serious amounts of cash within the video game industry, regardless of how terrible the game may be. We also know that Battlefront 2 will feature content from the latest films.
I’m just teasing of course, after all I’m one of the few gamers in existence who hasn’t had the **clears throat** pleasure of experiencing the previous Battlefront title. The reality is that I don’t think I’ve missed much and I’m pretty sure the critics will support me in that mindset. But I do at least have higher hopes for the second title in what could and should be a truly epic series of shooters.
Remember however that this is EA we’re talking about, a company with a rich history of disappointing their fans. It may seem like I’m being a little pessimistic, and while I have every right to be what I will say is that it seems that in recent years EA have somewhat got their act together with the release of a handful of absolutely epic shooters, PvZ: Garden Warfare, Titanfall and the up-coming World War 1 shooter Battlefield 1.
I guess what I’m trying to say here is that EA have a pretty big responsibility when it comes to the Battlefront series, and their first attempt just wasn’t up to scratch. Here’s hoping they’ve pulled together to make the sequel.
