Perfect World Entertainment yesterday announced that it is bringing its space faring MMO Star Trek Online to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this year. The current generation of consoles has seen a nice shift to MMO games and this one will certainly please a few Trekkies!
The console release will include over six years of content that has been added to the PC. Star Trek Online will launch with two expansions and 11 seasons of updates. Certainly enough content to boldly go and enjoy. You begin by choosing one of three factions, which can either be the Federation, Klingon or Romulan. From there, advance through each of their stories, leveling up and gaining bigger ships. You can even create your own race later in the game, once you advance to a high enough level.
Being an MMO, there will be a lot to learn and adjust to, so I thought it would be a good idea to grab a beginner’s guide for this article, which gives you a fair idea of what you can expect to be doing in Star Trek Online. You will be able to visit Vulcan, Deep Space Nine, Earth Space Dock and more in one of hundreds of classic Star Trek ships.
With the likes of Neverwinter, Elder Scrolls Online, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and The Division for players to get stuck into in terms of MMO experiences, Star Trek Online fills a different void in that space, and that’s a pun that I’m proud of on this Friday morning!
While no exact release date was given, it is expected this fall.
