At E3 Square Enix revealed Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness which, while overshadowed by some of their other stuff, many are looking forward to. However, if you are hoping to play it on the PS3 then bad news as it will not be coming to last gen consoles in the west.
If you are living in Japan, you are in luck as the title will be on the PS3 there but producer Shuichi Kobayashi says that in the west the market has “almost diminished to nothing” for the last gen console , with most already making the switch to the current gen.
In an interview with Distructoid, Shuichi Kobayashi said (with help from a translator):
“It’s simple. The PS3 still has a fairly large market in Japan, but in the West, particularly the United States, people have just moved on to PS4. The PS3 market has almost diminished to nothing.”
This just means that there will be no localization for the game on last gen, but you will still be able to get it for PS4 no problem. Dragon Quest Heroes has also been announced not to come to PS3 in the west, but is available in Japan.
Square Enix still have plans for last gen, so if you have not upgraded and are worried that everyone is cutting the platforms loose don’t worry just yet, but it won’t be much longer before they too jump ship.
What are your thoughts on what Shuichi Kobayashi said? Are you disappointed because you still play last gen? Let us know in the comments!
