Splatoon getting Private Match lobbies and more in August update

splatoon updateNintendo revealed via a TV advert that Splatoon is set to get a free update on August 6th, which will add new ways to play, along with new weapons, two new maps, and gear to have some fun with.

Two new matchmaking modes will be added, along with 30 more player levels, more than 40 pieces of gear and two new weapons to play around with, in the form of the Slosher and the….Splatling Gun. It was only a matter of time! New game mode ‘Squad Battles’ lets you team up with friends in 2 or 4 player environments, taking on another team of 2-4 players. The other mode, Private Battle, allows you to splatoon updateinvite whoever you want into the game, mainly friends, and gives you access to all of the settings such as level selection, game mode, winning requirements and whatnot, and will help eradicate the strangers you don’t enjoy playing with. You can even choose how many players are on each side, so if one friend is better than everyone else, why not play 2v1 or 4v3? The choice is all yours.

The Urchin Underpass level is also being taken down between August 3rd and the 5th to receive some ‘improvements’, but will be back looking and playing better, hopefully. As well as all the extra content, the level cap will also be increased, allowing for players to level up to level 50, with the current cap maxing out at 20.
