Similar to the Xbox One’s preview program, those involved will be able to try out new features that Sony have in the works, and can report any discovered issues and pass on important feedback. With the PlayStation 4, you will be able to switch back to the current firmware if you no longer wish to continue ‘beta testing’ the firmware.
It’s free to sign up to, which you can do here. The beta program will kick off on September 2nd, and will add a bunch of new features over time. Already in the works are Events, Communities and an overhauled presentation for the message screen.
Obviously, the only things required of you is that you have a PS4 system, an Internet connection, and a master account – sub-accounts cannot participate in the program. Sony only have a limited number of places available on the program, although they don’t specify how many. If you’re somewhat interested, sign up sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.
