CI Games boss Marek Tymiński said: “We’re making an ambitious game and unfortunately still need an extra few months to make sure it will stand up to the expectations of the fans. Our goal is to ensure Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 runs smoothly on all platforms, and right now we still have some important work left on optimising the game.”

Tymiński added “This is our biggest project we’ve ever worked on and the entire team is pushing really hard to make the entire experience more polished. I really hope everyone will understand our decision and will wait the extra time to play something we’re excited about, and that will redefine our IP and the sniping genre as a whole. This is a new beginning for the Sniper: Ghost Warrior series.”

This game will be the biggest and most expensive in the popular series so far. There’s a new parkour system, vehicles, and there are War Crimes side missions which sound gruesome yet interesting. Time will tell if the extra development time pays off but it’s just another in a long line of high profile delays to hit games this generation. Surely at some point someone some where will recognise that it’s probably best not to nail down a release date until you know you can meet the deadline.

I’m still looking forward to hearing and seeing more about this game because I really like what I’ve heard so far and it looks awesome. Whilst it is disappointing it’s important to recognise the challenges developers face and ultimately we must trust that the game will be well optimised on release.
