Smite Passes 10 Million Players

smiteDevelopers Hi-Rez Studios announced today that the PC and Xbox free-to-play MOBA Smite has passed a total of 10 Million players.

Smite still has a long way to go if it wishes to catch up in numbers with the likes of League of Legends which has 67 million players, but 10 million is one big ass number, and highly impressive.

We ourselves have been enjoying the Xbox One Beta a lot, last night having a run from 7PM to 5AM straight. While for the most part it is very similar to other MOBA’s like League and Heroes, the biggest difference here is that it is played in a more familiar third person perspective. Also, it is very easy to get into as it doesn’t have as steep a learning curve as League or DOTA 2 has.

Both of these seem to be big reasons as to why so many people are playing Smite, and works well for experienced MOBA players and newcomers alike. Even I have had some good runs with K/D’s only getting into the game last weekend… even if a lot of them were kill steals… I’m not sorry.

What are your thoughts on Smite though? Have you played much of it? What gods do you like to play as? Let us know in the comments!
