Rumour: Assassin’s Creed to skip 2016, return next year in Egypt

Assassin's Creed: SyndicateWhile no official announcement has been made,a  member on 4chan who claims to be involved with Ubisoft and Assassin’s Creed has stated that there will be no Assassin’s Creed this year. When it returns in 2017, it will be in Egypt. Take it with a grain of sand.

A post on NeoGaf has gathered all of the comments from the 4chan forum post, with the starting comment being “”Egypt. There won’t be an AC in 2016. You may screencap this and refer to it when nothing is shown in E3 2016. You’ll have to wait until 2017 for it. The reason: It will be a complete revamp of the series. The game is going for a Witcher feel, with player progression, freeform combat system. Horse is back, and boats too. It’s made by the Black Flag team. You may leave any question you want answered.”

The rumoured return will supposedly be called Assassin’s Creed Empire, and be the earliest point in time in the Assassin’s Creed universe. This will be before the Assassins and the Templars, which means the game could technically be receiving a reboot, or a fresh start. The original poster believes nothing will be shown at E3 for Assassin’s Creed, proving his prediction on 4chan, but we know that this year also sees the release of the movie starring Michael Fassbender. It would make sense to release a game to tie in with its release, in my opinion.

We shall await an official announcement, hopefully before E3 in June, but for the rest of the comments, click the above link to NeoGaf.
