Rocksmith 2014 being remastered, just because

rocksmith remasteredUbisoft are re-releasing 2014’s Rocksmith release on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, in a sort of ‘Game of the Year’ version. It will add a bunch of new features too. At first, I thought “That’s cool that they’re remastering a last gen game for current gen,” but realised I was at fault with this mindset.

However, despite Rocksmith first appearing in 2011 on the PS3 and Xbox 360, the 2014 iteration is actually the ‘remastered’ version of the original game, and this new one is the ‘remaster’ of the 2014 game. Confused? Good!

Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered will include new bonus features like “a customizable learning curve, stat tracking, more practice tools, retooled menus, and more.” This new edition, which will be getting a retail release, will also include six bonus songs, featuring the following:

  • Bob Marley & The Wailers “Three Little Birds”
  • Elvis Presley “Suspicious Minds”
  • FUN. “Some Nights”
  • Jackson 5 “I Want You Back”
  • Outkast “Hey Ya!”
  • Train “Drops of Jupiter”

A new trailer has also dropped, which you can see below.

If however, you already own Rocksmith 2014, the updated features will be available for free. You don’t get the bonus songs though, so you may need to purchase these separately if you want them, or just pick up the new re-release. Rocksmith 2014 Remastered Edition will be available on October 4th.

What makes Rocksmith stand out compared to the likes of Rock Band or Guitar Hero is that it allows you to plug in your own electric guitar and learn to play each of the game’s songs and downloadable music, thanks to a special USB cable. Become the hit at a party, thanks to a video game!
