Results of the Golden Joystick Awards are in!

golden joystickThe Golden Joystick Awards have ended and all awards awarded. A well deserved congratulations to CD Projekt Red as they cleaned up this year with five awards going to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and one to the studio themselves.

The Witcher 3: Wild hunt took away the Ultimate Game award as well as a few others. The open world storytelling obviously impressed and those bored with linear storytelling can find something refreshing with how CD Projekt Red handled this game. Great visuals and gameplay in the Witcher 3 as well as the free DLC and fantastic communication with the fanbase cemented CD Projekt Red’s success in the awards.

GTA V didn’t do too badly either picking up best PC game, Playfire most played and innovation of the year for it’s first person view. I think most people have sunk enough hours in to it not to complain about this one.

There were some other games grabbing more than one award including Ori and the Blind Forest, Splatoon, and Bloodborne.

Love him or hate him it’s been a big year for PewDiePie who picked up the Gaming Personality award. He’s appeared on Stephen Colbert and topped the list of Forbe’s list of YouTube millionaires. If you missed his appearance on “real TV” you can check it out here.

Of course, the Lifetime achievement award was given to Satoru Iwata, former Nintendo CEO, who died in July aged 55. A familiar face to Nintendo fans and most gamers, he will be missed for years to come. Check out IGN’s tribute here.
