After a long wait, Red Dead Redemption has now become playable on Xbox One via backwards compatibility. The Rockstar Games classic has seen a surge in used game sales since the announcement earlier this week, and with it, comes free DLC to sugar coat the awesomeness even more!
Yes, fans discovered at 5:30am GMT when the game went live, that the Xbox Store was listing its premium multiplayer DLC as free. Namely the Legends and Killers Pack, Myths and Mavericks Pack as well as the Liars and Cheats Pack. The Outlaws to the End co-op mission pack, plus the Hunting and Trading outfits pack are also free.
The Liars and Cheats DLC includes an “Attack & Defend” multiplayer gameplay variation, which supports up to 16 players on any one of four maps [Blackwater, Escalera, Fort Mercer & Thieves Landing] and features some of the most exciting and strategic gameplay of any of Red Dead Redemption’s diverse Competitive Multiplayer modes.
It also includes online multiplayer for Poker and Liar’s Dice. Anywhere from 2-6 players can compete in a variety on different locations, and all players begin with a $200 daily gambling allowance. Once you run out, you will have to wait until the next day before your funds are replenished.
Then there’s horse racing, because we don’t have Zentornos and Sultan RS’s in the wild west. Races support up to 8 players in a cup-style tournament that consists of anywhere from 3 to 5 races, where mounted combat adds to the exhilarating thrills of head-to-head racing.
The Legends and Killers Pack adds 9 new multiplayer locations and 8 playable characters. It also includes the Tomahawk projectile weapon.
Myths and Mavericks includes a whole bunch of new fan-favorite multiplayer characters from the single-player story, as well as new multiplayer locations.
The Outlaws to the End Co-Op Mission Pack adds on to the epic Red Dead Redemption online multiplayer experience with the introduction of six all-new and action-packed Cooperative Multiplayer missions you can play with 2-4 players.
The only DLC pack that players must buy, if they haven’t already, is the Undead Nightmare pack. It’s a single player, alternate timeline story that follows John Marston in this nightmarish adventure as he tries to find a cure for “a virulent plague turning people into flesh-eating crazies. The wild west plus zombies, basically!
