The reason for yesterdays delay was due to technical issues with matchmaking times and disconnections on all platforms, but thankfully they sorted it quickly laying to rest fears that it may affect full release next week.
The issues was caused sometime after the technical test when fixing a completely separate aspect of the game, which is pretty much programming in a nutshell. Here’s what Ubisoft said the precise issue was:
“Game sessions are not starting properly and we’ve encountered server issues, leading to failed connections. We’ve identified the root issue that was introduced after the Technical Test while fixing a separate aspect of the game. A fix is currently under test and will be deployed within the next few hours.”
Community Manager Ubi_Jax updated yesterdays forum post saying:
“We are happy to confirm we will be launching the Rainbow Six Siege open beta at 12pm EST.”
“We want to thank everyone who is participating in this beta. Your feedback helps us improve. For everyone who hasn’t been able to play as yet, we apologize for the inconvenience and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
“We are proud of what Rainbow Six Siege has to offer and we wish you the greatest experience possible.”
So if you were hoping to jump in and give the game a go, you now have your chance, though with all the games out right now I’m finding it difficult to make that time.
