Sony have warned fans that the PlayStation Network will be doing down for maintenance on August 17th/18th, and to prepare accordingly. If you log in a day before the scheduled maintenance, you should be able to continue gaming to your heart’s content, but the expected maintenance period is only for a few hours.
The last scheduled maintenance took place in May, and the process began in the early hours before finalising at midday in UK time. Overall, that maintenance period took roughly 9 hours, and next week’s maintenance will take place on Tuesday, August 18th at 4.30am GMT until 6am, equating to 90 minutes, all going well. For our American fans, that will mean Monday, August 17th, from 9.30pm to 11.00pm Pacific Time.
During the maintenance period, you won’t be able to access Account Management, PlayStation Video and the PSN Store, but if you have logged in prior to the downtime, you should be able to do everything else without much hassle. PlayStation.com recommend activating your PS4 as your primary console before maintenance begins for the best experience.
