Prominence poker, the free to play game from Pipework Studios releases on Xbox One today. The game pits players from around the world against each other and devious AI to build the rep, prestige, and bankroll needed to be, and beat, the best poker faced gamers out there. Beyond solo play, gamblers… I mean gamers, will find a deep multiplayer experience with regularly scheduled events, daily challenges, tournaments, ranked modes, and even more as the game evolves over time.
Single player is set in the city of Prominence, a gambling Mecca founded by crooked folks looking to go straight, players will face down four factions as they play their way solo to a final showdown with “The Mayor”, the mysterious town founder who will guide the player through their career.
Prominence Poker has been well received on Steam , where the game has been in early access for a while now, and enjoys positive user reviews. One of the unique features of Prominence Poker is the way your character reacts to your control inputs. If you look at your cards then so will your character, more importantly your competition will also be able to see you look at your cards. There’s also different animations for doing various different things so observing your opponent’s is key to discovering other players “tells”.
Whilst the game is free to play I do wonder if the reason its not yet releasing on PS4 is related to Sony’s decision not to allow early access (it’s technically in early access state) to games on its platform. Prominence Poker will eventually release for PlayStation 4 later this year (also when the game leaves early access on Steam).
