Porsche and Motorsport really do go together like a match made in heaven, unfortunately however when you want to import that glorious relationship into a video game, you need EA’s permission to do so. For as long as we can remember, the Need for Speed publisher have held exclusive rights over the legendary brand and the cars that bear the badge. Which does provide an issue when another developer wants to use them in their game.
Turn 10 however have once again secured said permission and have officially launched the biggest Porsche themed expansion to one of their games with the Forza Motorsport 6, Porsche Expansion pack. Giving fans access to twenty new vehicles from across the Porsche legacy including nine all new cars never before seen in a Forza game.
This of course isn’t the first time this has happened and only reflects on what seems to be a very healthy professional relationship between Microsoft and EA. We first saw Porsche make an appearance in Forza Motorsport 4 in the form of paid DLC not included as part of the season pass, then things went quiet for a while until it was announced that the brand would make an appearance in Forza Horizon 2, Turn 10’s take on the ultimate open world driving experience. Once again, as paid DLC completely separate from what was included as part of the games season pass, and now, we have this.
As with previous games, the DLC is being marketed as an expansion rather than a content pack and therefore will cost you an additional $19.99 regardless of what you’ve previously played for. So what exactly are you getting for that money. Well as previously mentioned you’ll first of all get access to the additional twenty Porsches, all of which are fully customizable and usable in the famous Forza Vista mode . Which works out at less than $1 per car, not bad. But you’re getting a little more than that. Downloading the expansion will also unlock the Porsche Anthology, a mini Porsche themed campaign mode exploring the history of the brand. The pack also grants access to the Virginia International Raceway in the form of seven different configurations including night-time and wet weather driving.
Here are the nine cars debuted on the Xbox One:
- 2015 19 Porsche Team 919 Hybrid
- 1960 718 RS 60
- 1957 356A Speedster
- 1998 26 Porsche AG 911 GT1 98
- 2004 911 GT3
- 1987 17 Racing Porsche AG 962c
- 1955 550A Spyder
- 2011 45 Flying Lizard 911 GT3 RSR
- 2008 7 Penske Racing RS Spyder Evo
Needless to say we’re definitely looking forward to getting our hands on some of the new content, are you?
