Anyone who has watched the Japanese cult classic Battle Royale will all have secretly wanted to take part in a similar scenario, albeit with the promise of actually staying alive. Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds looks set to be the game we all want, and so far on Steam’s Early Access, it’s turning into a massive hit.
“Our BATTLE ROYALE game-mode will put up to 100 players on a remote island
for a winner-takes-allshowdown where strategic gameplay is as important as shooting skills.
Players will enter a last-man-standing battle where they try to locate weapons, vehicles and supplies in a graphically and tactically rich battleground
that eventually forces players into a shrinking play zone as they engage in a tense and spectacular fight to the death.”
Brendan Greene, the developer behind the game, first created the Battle Royale mods for Arma 2 and Arma 3, before contributing with Daybreak Studios on H1Z1’s King of the HIll standalone add-on. Now he’s working on his own IP and so far, which at the time of writing, has a peak of 65,858 in the past 24 hours.
Bluehole Studio, who are making the game alongside Brendan Greene said in a recent interview with Inven, that Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds will also be coming to the Xbox One’s Game Preview program at a future date, as well as to the PlayStation 4. Just check it out, it looks amazingly addictive!
