Following the news this week of how much money Pewdiepie has made in 2014, and how he’s worth a lot of money and has a fan base of 38 million, the internet reacted rather negatively to it, saying rather unfriendly things about 25 year old Felix Kjellberg.
In response, Pewdiepie put together a short video called ‘Let’s Talk About Money’, were he reacts to the internet comments, some of which he reads out. Everyone likes different things, we all have our own preferences for Youtubers, movies, games and comedies, and while Pewdiepie certainly appeals more so to the younger demographic, we can’t argue that someone entertaining millions of people every day isn’t entitled to a small fortune, as long as they work for it. He enforces the fact that when he started making videos five years ago, that he didn’t even have a good enough computer to record gameplay.
“It seems like the whole world cares more about how much money I make than I do myself. We did raise $1m for charity and very few articles picked up on that, but here it is, everywhere, how much money I make.
“I don’t think there’s any good reason why anyone should care. And on top of that I guess there’s no good reason why I should care either. So we’re just going to end it there.”
While I don’t personally watch the guy, I think it’s great what he’s doing, and the fact that he has found massive success from doing so, is just the icing on the cake.
