Petition to remove one Uncharted 4 review from Metacritic

uncharted 4 posterHere’s an interesting story for you today. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End released on PlayStation 4 last week to glowing reviews. On Metacritic, the site that tracks review scores and generalizes them based on an average, it has all positive reviews, except for one.

That one review is by the Washington Post, who have given Uncharted 4 a review of 40 out of 100. Or 4 out of 10, depending on how you like your reviews. In their short blurb, they state that “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End feels as inevitable as it does unnecessary.” Charming.

Elsewhere, the game has received countless 10s, 9s and a few 8s, which isn’t bad at all. The average score at this moment in time is 93%, held back only by this one Washington Post review of 4/10. Fans have since set up a petition which has just under 5,000 signatures, asking for the review to be removed from Metacritic. You can sign the petition here if you wish.

Troy Baker, an established video game voice actor and voice of Sam Drake in Uncharted 4 tweeted a link to the petition, along with expressing his own words on the low review score. Tell us, is this an overreaction by the hardcore fans, or are the Washington Post allowed to form their own opinion of Uncharted 4?

Here is their review.
