In a recent interview with Game News, Nolan North, the voice and motion capture actor of Nathan Drake, who is now also a Ghost in Destiny, said that he feels fans don’t want an Uncharted movie, and explains his reasons why.
He feels that because the game is so cinematic in itself, that a movie would be pointless, and that fans may feel a connection to Nathan Drake that just wouldn’t sit right on the big screen if he was being played by someone else. He even feels that if he himself played him, he may sound the same, but wouldn’t look like him. Same goes for any movie based on a game I guess. The problem is, looking at Hitman, as Nolan North says, the movie flopped, yet Resident Evil proves to be successful with every release. Could Hollywood get it right? Will Ubisoft’s Assassins’s Creed movie prove to be successful with Michael Fassbender in the lead role?
The Uncharted movie has been talked about for many years, although it has seen different directors come and go and scripts changing hands and being changed. Sony previously approached David O. Russell, Neil Burger, and Seth Gordon. What do you guys think? Do you want an Uncharted movie, or are you just excited by the Nathan Drake Collection and Uncharted 4?
