No season pass for Mass Effect Andromeda

Mass Effect AndromedaGreat news regarding Mass Effect Andromeda pops out from Twitter as Aaryn Flynn, General Manager at Bioware confirms that the upcoming RPG will not in fact offer a premium season pass. This gives hope to many, but that’s not to say there might still be optional DLC and expansions.

However, as far as I recall, there was no season pass for any of the previous Mass Effect titles either. Mass Effect 1 had Pinnacle Station and Bring Down the Sky, two entirely optional side missions. Mass Effect 2 had The Lair of the Shadowbroker, Overlord mission, two additional characters and The Arrival mission, which was kind of important as it lead to the events at the beginning of the third game.

Mass Effect 3 included a ‘pre-order’ bonus incentive of the From Ashes story-arc, which is essential in my eyes. Why it was made pre-order only is beyond me. There was also the Citadel DLC, Omega DLC, and Leviathan side story. So, nothing unusual for Mass Effect Andromeda then?

Based on what I said above, it’s likely that any additional content coming to Mass Effect Andromeda will be optional, and sold individually. Don’t pretend that EA and Bioware are throwing you any bones here. It looks good on paper, but it’s the same old routine.

Mass Effect Andromeda releases on March 21st for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and is hopefully going to be awesome. See you in Andromeda, marines.
