We are given a first look at underground battles in the upcoming strategy game, Total War: Warhammer. The trailer, released today by SEGA, shows the “sturdy, redoubtable” Dwarf race in action in their natural habitat.
“Deep beneath the World’s Edge Mountains, in the throne-room of the Dwarfen capital Karaz-A-Karak, High King Thorgrim Grudgebearer broods.
Poring endlessly over the Dammaz Kron, the Great Book of Grudges, he dreams of vengeance for the countless betrayals and treacheries against his people. And sometimes, just sometimes, an opportunity to settle an old score presents itself…”
The press release by SEGA states that, “players will also be able to experience underground battlefields for the first time in Total War, with all the horrors of the dark and wonders of the deep they contain…”
The trailer features High King Thorgrim Grudgebearer. Named after his hobby of writing a list of everyone who has wronged him in a big book in blood. Lovely. SEGA shows off the upcoming game using in-game animations and shows some new units we can expect to see in the finished product, including Gyrocopters and Night Goblins.
Total War: Warhammer is expected sometime in 2016 and is set to be the first title in a trilogy of Total War games based in the Warhammer universe, with expansions and standalone titles to be released in the future
