New Star Wars and Toy Story lands announced at Disney D23 expo, update on Avatar land (video)

Exciting news from The Disney D23 expo as new Star Wars and Toy Story lands were announced. We were also  given an update on the upcoming Avatar land, with some amazing concept images and details on attractions.

According to park officials, visitors to Toy Story land will be able to explore Andy’s backyard as well as check out two new attractions and an expanded favourite.

There will be a family friendly roller coaster that takes guests on an adventure through the new land on the back of slinky dog. The green aliens will also be on hand to take visitors for a spin in their flying saucers.

There is also a Toy Story Midway Games Play Set that guests can visit and take aim at 3-D objects in a selection of games, the new expansion will add an additional track to the attraction.

Also announced was a new Star Wars land.  Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger was there to make the announcement and revealed that the Star Wars themed parks will be coming to Disneyland and Disney World.

This is to be Disney’s largest single themed land expansion ever with each park being over 14 acres in size.

Today at D23 Expo, Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO, revealed that Star Wars Land theme parks will be coming to Disneyland and Disney World. Disney promises a unique experience in “transporting guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life.”

Attractions are to include a Cantina, a Millenium falcon ride and a battle between the first order and the resistance.

Finally, we were given an update on Avatar land with new rides and attractions detailed. Visitors to Animal Kingdom will be transported to the world of Pandora and experience night time bioluminescence wizardry,  floating mountains, and a ride on a Banshee and also a ride on a boat through a forest. We won’t have to wait too long for this, as Avatar land is due to open in 2017.
