According to Retail Merchandiser, a new Ghostbusters game to tie-in with the all female cast movie is in development. Being published by Activision, nothing has been announced or confirmed, but a means to cash in on a game alongside the release of the movie isn’t something out of the blue.
The last Ghostbusters game release came in 2009, featuring the original cast, and was considered ‘the third movie’, and was well received. While fans are divided by the new lineup of females including Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones, it’s better than no Ghostbusters. Ghostbusters does however live on in LEGO Dimensions, as an add-on pack which includes characters and the Ecto-1 car.
The unannounced game will launch alongside the movie on July 15th, reportedly, and be available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Despite not featuring the original lineup, if busting makes you feel good, you should still enjoy it.
