At Gamescom this week, SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) boss Jim Ryan made a comment that suggests that other remastered games may find their way onto the PlayStation 4 in the future. The Nathan Drake Collection is the next one to hit the market, coming October 7th, and we have just had the God of War 3: Remastered released.
“We know that there are lots of PS4 owners that have either never played games before or used to have an Xbox or a Nintendo who have never had the chance to play something like the Uncharted trilogy,” he said. “But it has to be a great game if we’re going to go to the trouble of re-mastering. I can’t talk specifically, but I think that it’s very likely that there’ll be more.”
While a good point was made about some new PlayStation owners missing out on previous exclusives, we’ve seen The Last of Us and God of War 3 releasing, but what else could be remastered? Gran Turismo 6? That would have been great if it came sooner, but at this point, you may as well hold out for number 7 in the series. Time will tell, but aside from PlayStation exclusive remasters, we’re sure to see third party remasters in the interim.
