Microsoft posted on the Xbox Forums that the huge surge in applications, helped on by Backwards Compatibility and Xbox to PC streaming, has been a bit of a strain on the system.
Xbox One Preview Program Manager Emily Hanson said in the forum topic: “Due to a tremendous response from our fans, the Xbox Preview program has reached a near capacity level. With that in mind, we are slowing the number of new people we are accepting to optimize for testing. We are thankful for the amount of interest we’ve received to date and look forward to sharing more details on preview opportunities soon.”
Many people have been jumping onto the program in recent months in order to get early access to the consoles newest features. With the Backwards Compatibility feature currently being worked on, Preview members can test it out on the way to full release, and the release of Windows 10 also brings a pile of new features. The Xbox UI update will also likely be made available to Preview members first.
Since things are tightening up, if you are considering jumping on the program then best ask a friend for an invite as soon as you can.
