The launch trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has been released, but unlike the majority of game launch trailers this is not aimed at newcomers to the series, but rather created for longtime fans of Metal Gear.
The majority of the trailer is played to the tune of “Quiets Theme”, reminiscing the Metal Gear Solid games to this point, from 1 through 4 and Peace Walker, then afterwards gives us or first proper look at the “Ultimate” Metal Gear.
If there has been anything that could be thought of as a goodbye to the fans, this is it. The trailer does not feel like it’s listing off its triumphs, but rather makes us think about how this, if the months of info are true, will be the last Metal Gear headed by Hideo Kojima, and makes me tear up. In fairness though, that is usually the case whenever I see something MGSV related now.
But if there is anything to take away from this trailer, is that this is a Kojima Productions game, and Konami, no matter how hard they try, cannot change that.
There is one other thing in this trailer also, and that is a SERIOUS tease as to how The Phantom Pain will end. Like seriously… I am 95% positive of where this will ultimately lead because I know the history of Big Boss, but that does not annoy me. In fact, it makes me incredibly happy and I HOPE it is going the way I think.
