It feels like Battlefield 1 has been out for a hundred years at this stage, and fresh content is definitely high on players’ lists right now. Thankfully, Battlefield 1’s ‘They Shall Not Pass’ update is edging closer by the day, bringing four new maps, the French army and a new game mode, which you can see in the trailer below.
Frontlines combines Conquest and Rush in a symmetrical head-on engagement, Similar to objective capturing modes in other games, Frontlines sees players fighting over a single objective at a time. You can’t flank an enemy and steal another objective until you capture the one that’s being contested. Expect high casualties and tonnes of action in this mode by the sounds of it!
At each of the two bases for both sides, there are telegraph stations. Attackers must activate these posts to call in an airstrike on the bases to win the game. If the defenders manage to counterattack, the gameplay returns to flag capturing until one side gets both its telegraph stations destroyed, or a team runs out of respawn tickets. Just like in real life.
They Shall Not Pass will release some time in March for Battlefield 1 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Premium Pass holders will be entitled to it when it launches, and other players can buy it individually when it launches.
