French Studio DONTNOD Entertainment had great success last year with Life is Strange, but many fans (myself included), were a bit let down by the final episode. It wasn’t as dark and as menacing as the prior episode led us to believe, and ended up having a rather adverse effect on the story as a result.
But DONTNOD seem to be going down a more eerie route for their next game, Vampyr (pronounced ‘vampire’).
The game is an Action-RPG where the player assumes control of Jonathan Reid, a doctor working in Victorian London in 1918 during an outbreak of the Spanish Flu. The M. Night Shyamalan-esque twist in the story being that your character, Reid, is also a vampire.
A concept teaser for the game was released in June of last year, right before the release of episode four of Life is Strange.
This week the studio has released the first screenshots from the game, and assured fans that the decision-making in Vampyr will be just as important as it was in Life is Strange.
Vampyr is being developed for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. DONTNOD plan to release the game sometime in 2017.
