Last week, some leaked images appeared online for a new character in Street Fighter V. We knew her name was ‘Laura’, but that was about it. Now, Capcom have officially announced her, including a trailer.
“As the next heir of the famed Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu fighting style, Laura is constantly looking for strong opponents around the world to defeat, in an effort to spread the Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu’s name and prestige. Generally a happy and outgoing spirit, Laura finds she is the most content and most focused in the heat of battle.”
Laura comes equipped with a few assets of her own, which she’s not afraid to hide. She is also the first grappler in the Street Fighter series to ever have a projectile! This really changes up how she approaches her opponent and how opponents can approach her.
Zangief was announced previously, and we’re curious to know who Capcom add next. Laura is the third brand new character for Street Fighter V, and Karen made a surprising return too. Who do you want to see making an appearance? A legacy Street Fighter, or another Capcom favourite?
A second beta for Street Fighter V will be coming to PlayStation 4 on October 22nd, and it will also be coming to the pc for the first time. It’s unlikely we’ll see the new characters included, but it should help stress test the network before the game’s launch in 2016.
